About the festival

It is a source of great pride and pleasure for the Sharjah Sports Council to renew its engagement with the community of Kalba, the jewel of the Eastern Coast, through the inaugural edition of the Kalba Sports Festival. The Festival builds on a sporting journey that has witnessed continuous growth and development over the years, expanding in both scope and content to evolve into an event that brings sport and community together, while reflecting Kalba’s distinguished standing and its unique natural, tourism and cultural assets.

Set in a city blessed with breathtaking natural beauty and shaped by the visionary development initiatives of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, the inaugural edition of the Festival is held under the gracious patronage of His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah. This generous patronage reflects the strong support and attention accorded to sport in the Emirate and provides the Festival with a solid foundation for success, continuity and future growth.

We have been keen to ensure that the Kalba Sports Festival presents a diverse programme that combines sporting competitions with a wide range of community activities, catering to the interests of different segments of society. In doing so, the Festival seeks to encourage wider participation and establish sport as an inclusive platform for engagement and social connection. It also draws on Kalba’s distinctive tourism, natural and cultural assets to offer visitors an integrated experience that combines the excitement of sport with the beauty of the destination, while providing them with an opportunity to discover the city’s rich cultural and historical heritage and its outstanding tourism attractions.

Through this inaugural edition, we aspire to establish the Kalba Sports Festival as a prominent annual event that strengthens sporting and community engagement in the city, contributes to identifying and supporting emerging talent, and encourages people of all ages and backgrounds to embrace sport and an active lifestyle. At the same time, the Festival seeks to further position Kalba as a distinctive sports and tourism destination, attracting participants and visitors from across the United Arab Emirates.

I extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to everyone who has contributed to turning the Festival’s vision into reality, and to all government and private-sector entities, partners and supporters for their cooperation and dedicated efforts in making this event a success. We are confident that these collective efforts will provide the Festival with a launch worthy of Kalba and its distinguished standing, while strengthening its presence year after year on Sharjah’s calendar of sporting and community events.

From the very beginning of our preparations for this edition, our ambition as the Organising Committee has been to create a festival that truly reflects the spirit of Kalba — bringing sport, community and entertainment together in one vibrant setting, where athletes can embrace the challenge, families can enjoy the experience, and visitors can discover a different side of Kalba’s beauty and distinctive identity.

We have been keen to ensure that every detail of the Festival is inspired by the city itself — from the diversity of sports and activities to the presence of its rich cultural and historical heritage, as well as the accompanying experiences that make every visit to the Festival complete and memorable, extending well beyond the sporting competition itself.

We believe that the success of the Festival is measured not only by the number of competitions or participants, but also by the engagement, memories and lasting impact it creates. It is equally reflected in its ability to bring different segments of the community together through sport and its values, while further strengthening Kalba’s position as a destination for sport and an active lifestyle.
